Brief

This mock project explores an English language website for a Japanese pottery studio looking to introduce its work to an international audience. The website needed to communicate the studio’s approach to craft, present its collection of ceramic pieces, and make its story accessible to visitors unfamiliar with the studio. The goal was to create a simple, welcoming experience that bridges language and culture without losing the character of the practice.

Concept

The visual direction takes inspiration from the quiet beauty of Japanese craft and the natural qualities of clay. A warm, restrained palette, considered typography, and generous whitespace create a calm foundation. Photography of the ceramics, materials, and making process adds texture and character, allowing the objects and their imperfections to speak for themselves.
